Alex Smith-Scales (she/her)

Alex Smith-Scales is a resident of Richmond, Virginia currently attending graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University's Brandcenter program, studying Creative Brand Management. She graduated from the University of Virginia is 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies focusing on race and ethnicity. She is actively involved in the Richmond community, contributing to The Richmond Experience, a valuable social media guide to the city, and working for Virginia Community Voice, an organization focused on sustainable community organizing in Richmond's Southside neighborhood. She is excited about this opportunity to blend her skillset in social media, communications, problem-solving, and authentic storytelling with the DEI world. In her free time, she enjoys watching bad movies with her partner, trying new foods and cuisines, developing her photography skills, singing karaoke, and attending live music shows.
